Turnbuckle

HOW TO RECOGNISE IT
A turnbuckle is identified by its central threaded body with a hook, eye, or fork at each end, turned to draw the two end fittings together and tension a cable or rod. Opposite-handed threads at each end mean turning the body alone shortens or lengthens the whole assembly.
