HOW TO RECOGNISE IT

A spring steel U-nut is identified by its bent sheet-metal clip with a threaded hole in the center, designed to snap over a panel edge or into a punched slot without a separate hole for the nut itself. It is common in automotive trim and appliance sheet metal.
