Soldering Iron

HOW TO RECOGNISE IT

A soldering iron is identified by a slim heated barrel ending in a shaped copper tip, with a vented collar between the element and the handle to keep the grip cool enough to hold. The tip melts solder directly onto the joint; a hot air wand does the same work with a stream of heated air and never touches the board at all.
