HOW TO RECOGNISE IT

A thrust ball bearing is identified by its flat washer-like races with balls arranged in a ring between them, built to carry load along the axis of rotation rather than radially. It is used wherever a rotating shaft pushes lengthwise against a fixed point, such as under a swivel stool or a car's clutch release.
